Biography
The Honourable Mrs Graham (1757-1792) was born Mary Cathcart, the daughter of 9th Lord Cathcart, who was Ambassador to Catherine the Great. Mary married the Perthshire landowner Thomas Graham in 1774 at the age of 16, in a double wedding with her older sister, Jane. Mary and Thomas bought Lynedoch House near Methven, Perthshire in 1787. Mary soon fell ill with Tuberculosis and was nursed attentively by her husband. They first moved to Brighton, and then to the Mediterranean, in search of warmer climates. They reached the sea, but she died on 26 June 1792, aged 35.
